Chairman - Cllr Brian Ellis
Brian
moved to Cranleigh in 1975 and retired in 1993 after 35 years in the IT
industry. He was elected to Cranleigh Parish & Waverley Borough
Councils in 1995 & has served as Parish Chairman or Vice Chairman
for the past 7 yrs. He was Mayor of Waverley in 2002-2003 & is married to Patricia, with 4 daughters.

Vice Chairman - Cllr Brian Cheesman
Brian was born
in Cranleigh & was first elected to the Parish Council in 1976, so
this year he celebrates 30 yrs serving Cranleigh as a council member.
He has recently been Chairman of the Council for three years, and is
currently its Vice Chairman and is the Council’s only Independent
member. Brian lives in the High Street with his wife Pam. And is an
active member of Cranleigh Baptist Church. He has interests in many
local organisations, and before his recent retirement was a member of
Cranleigh Chamber of Trade and a governor of two local schools.

Cllr Brian Arendell
Brian
moved to Cranleigh in 1969 and is a retired Accountant from the Civil
Engineering Industry and was also a School Manager at the University of
Surrey. He has been a School Governor for many years and President of
the Rotary Club of Cranleigh. Brian lives with his wife Pauline in the
Horsham Road and they have two married daughters.

Cllr John Bainbridge
John has lived in Cranleigh for some 36 years. He and Marilynne have two adult sons and live close to the centre of the village. John is a retired Merchant Banker, a Freeman of the City of London and, in 2009-10, is Master of the City livery company, the Worshipful Company of Fuellers. He is a member of the Cranleigh History Society and of The Army & Navy Club (aka "the Rag").

Cllr Mrs Jean Dodd
A retired solicitor, Jean has lived in Cranleigh for 21 yrs and has
been a Parish Councillor for almost 10 yrs. She is a Governor of
Glebelands School and for many years was Secretary of Cranleigh
Decorative & Fine Arts Society. Every Friday morning she may be
found at the Cranleigh Country Market.

Cllr Mrs Patricia Ellis
Patricia is a Waverley Borough Councillor. She & her husband Brian live in
the Guildford Road and they have four grown-up daughters. She is keenly
interested in protecting the many beautiful attributes of Cranleigh
& regularly organises ‘litter picks’. Patricia is involved in many local voluntary organisations.

Cllr Mary Foryszewski
Mary has lived in Waverley
for 17 years and moved to Cranleigh in 2006. She has worked as a
councillor for
eight years, four years as a town councillor for Haslemere and four
years as a
Waverley Borough councillor. Married to Stefan for 23 years and has two
grown up sons. Mary enjoyed a career in the NHS for more than sixteen
years, working at a number of hospitals including Cranleigh
Hospital and Farnham
Road Hospital
in Guildford. As well as being a keen gardener, Mary’s main interests
are
in serving the local community, in particular supporting the youth; she
was
treasurer and managed a youth boys football teams for 8 years as well
as
setting up and managing a girls’ football team. Mary was chairman of
Sport Haslemere and a school Governor
at Graywood school. She is enthusiastic about preserving the local
environment,
animal welfare and trains and works, with dogs of any size, breed age,
specialising in dogs with behavioural problems. Mary feels privileged
to live in the beautiful village of Cranleigh and plans to continue
work to
support the local community.

Cllr Mrs Rosemary Hurtley
Rosemary has lived in Cranleigh
for 23 years and is married with a son and daughter. She is a consultant Occupational Therapist
with a masters degree in gerontology. Rosemary runs her own business and works
for a range of organisations including the Department of Health’s Change Agent
Team, Help the Aged & national advisor to Bupa. She is an author & speaker on
training programmes, member of the National Coalition Steering Group promoting
physical exercise and activity & Trustee of the Relatives & Residents
Association. She is active in the development
of Cranleigh Hospital and is interested in activities
that promote healthy communities. She is a member of the Cranleigh Tortoise and
Hare Runners (as leader of the tortoises!) a leader of the Cranleigh Walking
for Health Group, a member of Cranleigh
Golf and Leisure club and a member of a local church.

Cllr Ken Reed
Ken
was elected to both Cranleigh Parish & Waverley Borough Councils in
July 2004. At Waverley he is a member of the Executive with
responsibilities for Housing, Procurement & E-Government &
represents the Parish at the Cranleigh Youth Centre. Ken lives with his
wife in Wanborough Lane and they have 3 grown-up children.

Cllr Dr Vivienne Dawes
Vivienne Dawes was co-opted to the Parish Council as an independent member in June 2009 to fill a vacant seat and she has elected to be a member of the Planning Committee.
Vivienne is a public health physician. She and her husband David lived in Australia for many years before returning to England permanently in 2008 and they chose to settle in Cranleigh partly because of having relatives nearby and also since they believe it is a wonderful place to live.
She has a keen interest in all aspects of the environment, but particularly in safety and sustainability and in maintaining/improving village facilities and the quality of life of the community.
